Inspired by mountains and wilderness, Lizzy 'fell' into the world of ultra-distance and endurance running more by chance than by design.
Jacopo first wore a pair of climbing shoes at the age of 12, and from that moment climbing has been an essential part of his life. It has become his passion. Born in the South Tirol region of Italy, Jacopo now lives between France and Austria when not travelling the world, and would describe himself as a globetrotter climber, a student and a route setter.
Just two years after he started to climb Jacopo took part in his very first competition, a stage of the Youth Italian Cup. He surprised himself with taking the 2nd position and became fascinated with this aspect of climbing. Realising he might have real potential, he dedicated the following years training as hard as possible to improve himself. The hard work was rewarded with Jacopo winning the Italian Youth Championship and the Italian Youth Cup in Lead and Boulder for 3 years running. These successes led to selection for the Italian Youth Team, and Jacopo started to travel world-wide to compete. In 2008 he moved into the senior category and is now a committed and accomplished member of the Italian Lead and Boulder Team. The highlights of his recent years were winning the Italian Boulder Championship in 2010, and finishing 3rd in the Italian Lead Championship in 2009.
While continuing to develop his skills and talents in competition climbing, Jacopo also started to seriously climb on rock in 2006. He immediately fell in love with this new challenge and from that moment began to travel the world to climb and to discover for himself the different types and styles of rocks. He set more than 200 routes in the 8th grade and continues to push himself and explore what is possible. He is now focused on moving from competition to rock climbing and alpinism. His dream is to travel the world climbing on the most revered 'big walls' and to open new routes on unclimbed faces. A challenging dream but Jacopo is determined to do everything he can to make it possible. His life philosophy is to 'do what you love. love what you do'; Jacopo has been lucky to find what it is he really loves, and to make the opportunities to do it.
