“The serenity of the colours, organic shapes, growth and all the little details of the plants, flowers and stones carry so much knowledge. I feel like this is something we have only scratched the surface of.”
“I wanted to make the material a bit more of my own. When I found the geodome tent it all came together. I picked the colors together which I wanted to use, and then I started to look at the materials, and the layers within. So I could also embed my concept more into the material. It’s very important to create a garment that is functional, to be able to explore in a world that has evolved.”
She wanted to bring the serenity of nature, as well as its textures, shapes and colours, into his work. “I created this calm, meditative and flexible atmosphere through the saturated colour palette. I always use elements from nature to get inspired; it brings the garment closer towards the wearer’s origin.
“In the overcoat and the bottle bag design I used a structure of stone erosion as a print, edging the Gore-Tex with a laser. In this way all the layers come to the surface, creating a print without adding any new material. And because these designs are also functional, the owner can get a lot of use out of them, meaning they’re sustainable too.”
