Born from need, worn for desire –
nothing symbolises free-spirited
adventure quite like the Denali.
The original Denali was introduced in ‘88 as a zip-in fleece to the Mountain Jacket.
As such, it was a key component of the Expedition System, a system of layers that debuted on the backs of US climbers, Todd Skinner and Paul Piana, during their historic 30-day Salathé Wall climb in Yosemite. It completely revolutionised technical fleeces and went on to be used on expeditions in Antarctica, the Himalaya, Kazakhstan and Patagonia.
THE FOREVER
FLEECE
By the ‘90s, the Denali already showed signs of becoming the forever fleece. It wasn’t just for hardcore, dirt-bag climbers and adventurers. The Denali was worn on university campuses, city streets and weekend hiking trips.
